My Battle with HTN
Error
When I was young my blood pressure was always pretty low 90/60. I worked in a hospital and the nurses used to practice taking blood pressures on me. After the reading they'd ask me jokingly if I was alive or not. When I moved into management I went from type B laid back easy going, slim and unstressed to a type A hard driven, decisive manager responsible for 40 administrative personnel on two tours. Not only did my BP start rising so did my weight. By my 50's I was obese - 5'2" and 216 lbs. By my early 60's My weight was 150 and I felt good. Then much to my dismay my husband's health deteriorated from cancer which he beat to a stroke. We had to move to a senior living facility that should we need assistance we could get it. God blessed us and my husband conquered his stroke with a year of rehab and is back to normal just a bit slower! Where we are we have no stress and no kitchen. Unfortunately for me we don't have a full kitchen, so they provide all meals in a dining room and the food is much richer than our "normal" foods. Why does that matter? I put on 30 lbs the first year. Now back to 180 I can't get the weight back off. I'm even eating small portions! So the weight is a stressor once again.and this time it will NOT budge. My HTN meds have me controlled and I'm grateful to have it and a physician who works with me.
