Professional activities?

I work part time and also find it very tiring but love my job. I have usher syndrome type 2..was born partial deaf and then was diagnosed with RP aged 30. I have the onset of cataracts in both eyes and struggle with glare from light especially artifical lighting. I am 41 now. I have a son aged 9 who keeps me busy! Where you from Sarah and what do you do for living?

I'm from Belgium. I was diagnosed with RP in 2002. I also have cataract in one eye. I work part time as a speech therapist. I love my job but it is tiring because I constantly have to use my eyes to read, to make papers and so on... Is your son also diagnosed? Is it difficult to raise a child when you have RP?

I do not work currently out side the home. I do know that if you can contact Voch Rehab where you live, they should be able to help to make your job a lot easier to do. They have always been a huge help to me and one day when I decide to return to work, they'll be there to help with that. It is a process, but the sooner you contact them, the sooner you can get the help you need. Good luck and hang in there.

My son carries the gene so does not have it. I'll be honest and say that it's difficult during the winter when my vision is worse because of the dull days and the nights draw in early. When my son was a baby and toddler, the pushchair was like a mobility aid. He's 9 now. My boyfriend is supportive and I live my life to the full amd try not to think about it too much. Wish thie text on here wasn't so small!
