i had a bad cough that i could not get rid of for about 18 months and i kept going to the doctors. they kept telling me it was just an infection and to take some cough medicine. i also started getting night sweats and losing weight. so i kept going to my local surgery. eventually i found a young trainee gp who listened to me and sent me for a chest xray. after a couple of days i got a call saying could i come in as something had shown up ( i cant describe the things that went through my mind) she reassured me that it wasnt the big c but said there were a few things it could be and referred me to a chest clinic. they sent me for a open lung biopsy ( not something i would recommend) and eventually got a diagnosis and treatment (prednisolone and inhalers) . the sarcoid has now almost burnt out now but it has left me with asthma. i still have wheezy days and coughing fits but now with the help of my inhalers things are mostly under control.
