How did all start?
Vision changes started aged 16. Was very slow progressing at first. I couldnt see as far as i used to be able to
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Diagnoaed aged 18
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Magnifier. Reading lamo. Moorfields.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Coming to terms with losing my vision, giving up driving, losing my independence. No longer being able to read a book without getting headaches
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Not changed too much. Lost a few friends as no longer able to go out independently. Close to my family still
What things have you stopped doing?
Driving,reading novels. Dental nursing,
What do you think about the future?
Tje future scares me to be honest but I am trying to let myself adapt as my eyes change
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Become a hygienist. Drive. Live an independent life
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
A challenge but one that is making me grow stronger each day.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Stay positive, make the changes you need to help your eyes. Try to do things you think you cant. You will feel better for trying than telling yourseld you cant do it.
