Story about Marfan Syndrome .

Stimulants Resulted in Diagnosis

Dec 28, 2015

By: Melody

After taking a decongesant with a stimulant my doctor noticed my chest moving up and down with my heartbeat. I was visiting her office for an ear infection. She performed an EKG. She then suggested a Holter Test. The Holter Test showed an ST Depression. She next suggested an Echo which is where a 4.77 cm aneurysm was discovered in June 2012. I met with a representative of the Marfan Foundation and got the name of a Marfan accredited surgeon. He removed the aneurysm by open heart surgery in Jan 2013. The aneurysm had grown to 5.4 cm. I donated the tissue for research at University of Michigan.
