Post-traumatic thoracic inoperable Syringomyelia

By: Jack

Year Condition Began: 2002

I was a captain for Bravo Company airborne and we were on night Patrol we hit an IUD which killed every man except me I was blown clear out of our vehicle. The Taliban was at a height and position and immediately opened up automatic gunfire I held them off from 7 p.m. until the sun came out and I ran out of ammo. I had my sidearm left and I waited for them to be about a hundred yards away and I took mine out all headshots. I couldn't walk I didn't know why but my spine from my third cervical vertebrae all the way down to my lumbar completely disassembled. Now I'm not talkin about herniated or ruptured discs I'm talkin some of my vertebrae are upside down but they're not connected anymore. They took me into their troops and to their Village. They started on my toes with ice picks and then they broke every toe and every thorn in my foot my ankles, while of course at the whole time punching and beating me to a pulp while my hands were tied behind my back to a chair. When they realized that I would not break they started to take one layer of skin off at a time they started on my left leg from the ankle oh, they would ask a question I would remain silent and they would use these chemicals and take off a layer of skin and then put salt in it. I was with them for 3 weeks until rescued by Green Berets and therefore my right and left leg they took all the skin off all the way down to the bone. On a positive side I wouldn't even give them my name rank or serial number. And I owe it all to my father because he never gave me anything except beatings and lots of them and he taught me from a very early age how to become disconnected and be able to tolerate any type of pain no matter how extreme it may be. God bless him.
Unfortunately because my spine it's not connected my cerebral brain fluid has been pouring into my spinal cord for a long time now. My spinal cord is tethered it's pierced my cerebellum sack and now my brain fluid is coming into my nasal cavity and my mouth it's down my throat and it tries to smother me at night. I don't have any health coverage , but then again they told me I had might have 18 months to live and I'm living on borrowed time and I'm ready to die.
I do not tell you this for sympathy. If I wanted sympathy I would get a dictionary and look between shit and syphilis. I told you this so you people out there who have this condition are having a hard time dealing with it. I have the very worst kind there is and I got it in the very worst of all possible ways and I can't even get treatment. It is not operable for I do not have 3 millimeter hole in a vertebrae play so I can't get a shunt operation so all I'm going to tell you is stop your whining stop it now. Spend your time with your children or out in the woods or doing things that you used to like to do but stink you can't do anymore because it's all in your head. My neurologist offered me liquid morphine Karma I won't even take an aspirin when I feel pain. I just forget about it. I can still walk, I am defying medical realities, what I'm trying to tell you is you are reading about a man whose spine is broken into pieces and yet not only can I walk I can run. Until three months ago I was still boxing training everyday which included weight resistance training and incline speed skating with my siberian huskies 20 miles a day. Driving my 1963 Stingray Corvette around out in the country. And yes still have a girlfriend and still can function and Every Witch Way shape and form even though the MRIs indicate that I should not be able to do anything at all except lie down and I should be paralyzed. I won't lie to you my hands and feet are paralyzed but that does not stop me from doing everything possible that I can do. I am trying to bring you good news, because if this is all there really was I would be dead a long time ago to. There is another Power greater than you or I, if you want proof I will provide it for you I'll even give you the doctor's name who gave me my death sentence his name is dr. Jack jallo and he is the world's leading specialist fine post-traumatic thoracic Syringomyelia, I've seen him two times at Penn University Hospital in Pennsylvania. The first time I saw him he walked in and just asked me if I had everything in order. I looked at him baffled and asked him what he meant and then he told me that I might have 18 months to live. And then he asked me if I needed the room for a while. When I asked him why he said to me, "well aren't you going to cry?"
I looked at him dead in the eye,
and I and said," I'll let you in on a little secret doc you're dying to and I'm going to outlive your ass."
I got into the elevator and I was on the third floor when I hit the ground I completely forgot about the whole thing. That was in 2004. Well that was 15 years ago and I'm still standing. Sure I don't feel that good and I think I'm getting tonight ends because this thing is trying to smother me every night my sweet. But I'm going to fight it the whole way. Remember what Frederick Nietzsche said,
"if man can find the why in life, he can bear almost any how." He was very close because my daughter is my why, or my reason and I can bear any how not almost any how.

So button your lip Keep a stiff upper lip Take a fresh grip on your bulletproof mask
And if they try to break down your disguise with their questions?
You can hide, hide, hide right by side.....
If you ever need to reach out to somebody who is honest and caring don't hesitate I can get you through anything. God be with you all.
