How did all start?
I started getting hives in the air conditioned office where I worked. K
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes. Went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed that day. In 1987 I think
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Always take a jacket. If I think I might get cold wear warm clothes. Don’t get in a swimming pool that’s under 85 degrees. Stay dry when it’s raining.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Air conditioning and if my clothes get wet.
What things have you stopped doing?
Swimming in lakes or rivers
What do you think about the future?
I have had this for 30 years. I have learned to how to manage it the best I can by being aware of the temps. Snow boardNo meds have ever helped
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Snowboarding
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I have a good life and I am happy.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Be aware and always take some extra warm clothing with you. Don’t ever get in cold water.
