I suffer from this every day. After being so active to become housebound was and still is very hard to deal with. Its caused the loss of 2 jobs. The infection changed me. It's a cliche but after being so close to death my life goals and dreams changed. Depression set in due to feeling useless. Not only was I not working but even simple tasks around the house were tough and took everything out of me. Still today I can only do so much before my body shuts down. My advise is to keep as busy as possible. Even if that is household projects of crafting. Keep your mind busy. I would go through the hell I went through all over again if depression was not in the equation. It's the hardest part to heal.
It has changed my life so much. I went to the er in my town, expecting them to treat it and send me home. Three weeks later I was discharged from a hospital in a big city far away. During my hospital stay, my husband (who had mental health issues to begin with) burned all our furniture and rented out my house. I was beyond depressed. There were times I was actively suicidal.
