What is the history of Nutcracker syndrome?

When was Nutcracker syndrome discovered? What is the story of this discovery? Was it coincidence or not?

The history is evolving and Dr. Scholbach and Dr. Sandmann have been leading in the research of vein compressions. Nutcracker Syndrome itself was discovered in the 1950s and little research to date has been done.

Here's what I found on Wikipedia, "The name derives from the fact that, in the sagittal plane and/or transverse plane, the SMA and AA (with some imagination) appear to be a nutcracker crushing a nut (the renal vein)."
