For me, it has caused depression. Mainly because of the time missed at work and the struggle to pay your monthly bills. Also, enjoying the hobbies of your every day life are interrupted. For me, I was really big into fishing. I haven’t been able to do that for about 3 years now.

We have to be careful not to fall into the depression pit. It isn’t unusual to see someone with this disease to have depression and anxiety. Keep talking to someone. Get on the AVN/Osteonecrosis support website. Keep in touch with someone.

Osteonecrosis can affect mood in a few ways. It can make it difficult to attend hobbies or social events. That can lead to boredom and loneliness. The pain caused by osteonecrosis can be very severe and leave sufferers bedbound. Chronic pain has a strong connection to depression and may worsen existing mood disorders or cause a depressive episode in someone who has not experienced it before.
