Osteonecrosis is also known as ON,AVN, and Avascular Necrosis.

Osteonecrosis refers to the specific disease mechanism. Osteo = bone and necrosis = death. It is also known as avascular necrosis and ischaemic bone necrosis referring to the lack of blood supply that causes the bone death. It can also be called aseptic necrosis meaning bone death without infection present.
