There is no real diet that helps the symptoms, but there are a few things to think about when choosing what meals to take. The medication (such as Lyrica) and symptoms caused by the disease many times slows the body down and make it impossible to have fruitful exercise. It's very easy to gain weight during this time, so healthy food is definitely recommended to try and keep your body functioning. Another important point is that when you finally do decide on surgery, having your body in a good balance before the surgery definitely doesn't hurt. If the body is nutritionally balanced, some studies suggest that the recovery can be speedier. I tried to keep a healthy diet (veggies, fruits, meats) for the month before surgery in particular to give my body a push for healing.

I feel best when eating a diet which reduces inflammation. Bread, pasta, sugar, caffeine, meat, etc cause an acidic environment in the body and increase inflammation.

I have no direct experience with diets of any type, let alone one specified for a tarlov cyst, but i would say out of experience of eating many foods, i definitely feel more mobile and better about myself with more fruits and vegetables and a moderate amount of proteins such as beef or fish. In general i would think that someone would want to avoid carbs as it makes your muscle cells and fat cells grow because they take a longer time to be converted into useful nutrients. Also, i personally avoid sugars, more so because of my teeth but i have also noticed when i eat sweets my blood flows quicker and i feel rushed, which makes me want to move around and that in turn causes more pain.

Yes - I have improved my symptoms by following the diet of Dr Terry Walhs. For me Carbs and dairy made symptoms much worse. I no longer have tingling and numbness in my legs and feet and there has been some improvement in bladder and bowel function

I don't necessarily think that there is any certain diet that specifically improves the quality of life of people with Tarlov cysts. I believe that you should eat a proper diet, and get the nutrition that you need, and I believe that, let's say that you have a symptomatic Tarlov cyst in your sacral area, that you should eat properly so that you don't gain extra weight. Which would put undue pressure on your low back, therefore causing you more pain. I've heard different people in the support groups talk about eating certain things that are supposed to help with different things, like inflammation, and some are supposed to help with pain, and so on, and so forth. However, just as with medication, all things don't work the same for all people, so I think that each individual has to just do the tried and true method of trial, and error to find out what works for them.

Using a clean eating lifestyle helps with inflammation, thus helps with pain. Advoid foods that have processed sugars, soy, gluten, nitrates. Thus all prepackaged foods, GMO, and non organic are what I avoid.
