My nightmare

in the beginning of march of this year i was taken to hospital by police after showing "bizarre" behavior. they initially thought i was suffering from drug induced phsycosis. i have no memory from about a week before i was admitted until about my last plasma exchange treatment almost 2 months later. i was admitted to 3 different hospitals in calgary alberta. thankfully after being admitted to the second hospital i was diagnosed with anti NMDA R encephalitis. i was given a spinal tap which is how they found it and a ct scan confirmed a tumor in my right ovary. i had 14 plasma exchange treatments, a teratoma tumor and my ovary removed, steriods and IVIG. like i said i remeber none of this. i nearly died. i broke my leg trying to escape and fell off a nursing station. i couldnt talk or feed myself or go to the bathroom. it was like being reborn... i went through childlike stage, relived teenage years and it has been an incredibly hard road. the PLEX treatments saved my life and i have made nearly a full recovery. my heart goes out to those suffering with this horrifying diesease.
