Living with cluster headaches is like riding a roller coaster - you just have to ride it as there is no getting off. Lifestyle requires adaption to ensure that whatever you decide to do you have yourself covered to compensate with possible onslaught of an attack. Don't leave home without your "safety net" medications, don't go anywhere where noise levels may be triggers and don't go anywhere that you can't remove yourself from should an attack come on. This also includes over exercising. What do you have to do to be happy with cluster headaches? Who wrote this question? Obviously someone with little knowledge of cluster headaches. Happiness is not a consideration with cluster headaches - it is misery most of the trip. Do more research!!

Once I was finally diagnosed with cluster it was a big relief. Was sick of being treated like a junkie, craving pain mess. Once who have proper treatment in place I believe who you be happy and have a decent quality of life.

Being happy under any circumstance is up to the individual. I will admit that this has changed my life in just 5 weeks of 2 to 3 a day, 3 hour torture sessions. I do not take for granted the moments I am without pain. I have developed a sense of urgency I never had before. Just make the most of your good days!

You can be happy only if you decide to keep on living and to share your pain with a partner or the Cluster Headache Support Group or a friend. In isolation depression can easily set in. Cluster episodes arise without much warning, and require immediate and total attention. I have had them while driving with my young children in the car. Pulling over and having children watch their daddy cry is not a pleasant experience. Clusters often settle in to predictable schedules during their episodes. I do enjoy alcoholic beverages. Sometimes too many I’m told. When I have a cluster, I learned early on to not touch alcohol in any way shape or form unless I want an already severe headache to multiply exponentially and last longer than usual. My cluster headaches make me be sober for 6 to 8 weeks every year and a half. That is the only benefit I can think of.
