In the past islet cell transplant was attempted but the body destroyed them the same way it shut down the pancreas originally but now there is research into fighting the bodies immune system to prevent this from happening in future cases but there is still a long way to go for this to be successful.

They have new versions of insulin pump that you can control from your phone, tablet, or meter, such as the OmniPod. I personally really want an OmniPod, those are totally tubular bro!

But it turns out that another type of immature beta cell has been hiding in our pancreases all along, and scientists think it might be possible to use these 'virgin beta cells' to restore the functionality of the pancreas.
