Alfies Aniridia

On the 27th April 2013 I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy, Alfie. I brought him home and my family started to notice that he wasn’t looking at me when I was feeding him and asked me to take him to get checked over at the doctors. As Alfie was my first child I didn’t really know what he should and shouldn’t have been doing but didn’t think too much into the fact that he wasn’t looking at me but to my families mind at rest I took him to the doctors and asked the doctor to check his eyes. The doctor sent us away and told me everything was fine. Another couple of weeks later and my family were still determined there was something wrong with Alfie’s eyes and pleaded with me to take him back to the doctors to which I did. I had noticed Alfie looked like he had a sort of halo around his eyes so I mentioned it to the doctor to which they then asked another doctor for a second opinion. The other doctor did some checks then sat me down and told me my beautiful baby boy was blind and sent us straight to see the specialist at James Cook University Hospital. After we had seen Mr Soeldner he explained that Alfie had a condition called Aniridia.
