Stage IV Outlier

Hi there! I'm sharing my story to give hope to others who have Stage IV breast cancer. More patients are living longer with Stage IV. I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in Dec. 2011. I was in a lot of pain. I thought my life was over. Fortunately I was living in NYC at the time and was able to see an oncologist at Sloan Kettering, one of the top cancer centers in the world. I have lived many years with breast cancer and I have never have chemotherapy. The treatment I use is called an Aromatase Inhibitors. I take a daily pill that interferes with the growth of cancer cells. I also take bone strengtheners, once every 3 months, since the cancer is in many of my bones. Breast cancer can be a confusing disease, because some people overtreat the cancer. My doctor's philosophy is to treat the cancer based on its unique characteristics. I started a nonprofit organization to help others with breast cancer in my city feel better about themselves.
