A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / M.E. story

Very athletically active up to end of 2010 when a severe "felt like I was dying" virus wiped me out and left behind post-viral fatigue from which I have never recovered.  First six months were a terrible mixture of symptoms, most of which, thankfully, faded, leaving behind just a small cluster of problems centering around, at times crushing, fatigue.  Over the first year as all my fitness faded, and the subsequent metabolic demands lessened, things got easier.  Then I began learning to live within my means, sorting out things I had control of like diet and sleep, while trying to survive those things I had less control of through pacing.  By year three I felt like progress had plateaued and since then have been pacing through.  I follow much of the research that is going on and am now in a "holding pattern" waiting for a cure!  GP support has been completely absent since being "dismissed" with the initial diagnosis, but based on understanding of the condition there's nothing that can be done anyway.  Every now and then, when feeling good, I'll try to reclaim some fitness through exercise, but this always results in crashes, no matter how easy I exercise.  And then it's back to pacing.  Life goes on, but a cure would be nice.
