Sam's Journey.

I went down with GBS in August 2012. After a family camping trip to central France. My wife and 3 daughter's and I had a great time apart from us all getting a nasty tummy bug. I was particularly rough for 3 days with diaorrea and vomiting. We recovered and I drove back to Blighty. 3 days later I noticed my feet and hands felt weird and I was going flatfooted. I managed to get back home and went straight to Doctors and was referred for blood tests the following day. I plummeted downhill over night only able to move my head in the morning. A &E for me and after a couple of days and several spinal taps was diagnosed GBS..Very scary time when lungs failed and ventilated  for 4 months. Heart was affected and racing along at over 200 BPM at times. I was hospitalised for 14 mths. I am lucky to be given a second chance of life and to have such supportive family and friends. I am still in elec-wheelchair and have goo upper body strength. I aim at walking again but must go with the flow...exercise every day and hydro-therapy 3 times a week...I keep very active and positive... I can still do things but in a different way...learning everyday. Positivity is key and the rest falls into place.
