George the Miracle

My son was born early with multiple medical exceptionalities.  17.5 years later I have learned so much, been scared so much and am perpetually GRATEFUL for this chance to share in his life.  Hirschsprung's has been the big surgical challenge of our journey.  Yup.  With Epilepsy, single failing Kidney, severe dairy allergy (anaphylaxis), severe cognitive challenges, sensory processing disorder, non verbal, autistic, sleep and central apnea, visual problems - it has been the Hirschsprungs that has almost taken his life 3 times.  He is now an end Ileostomate with a rectal stump.  Best 5 years of his life (since 2010) then a big set back Nov 2015 diagnosed with Colitis (that tiny piece helping to make up the rectal sack) and bacteria overgrowth.  18 days on massive doses of Flagyl stopped the leakage, but he still couldn't keep his balance to walk.  The surgeon scoped him, rinsed him out and tested his manometry (previously a problem leading to Botox injections and a myectomy) he was better within 24 hours.  That's the Miracle part.  Sometimes something so simple can give the greatest amount of relief! That boy was running and shooting hoops the next day!
