Very lucky - in a way

I'm a student in Swansea University. I am studying Medical Sciences and Humanities and I am going to study medicine when I graduate. I want to be an orthopaedic surgeon, I want to help people like me.

I have had over 100 fractures and I know that a lot of you will have had a great deal more. I've had 14 surgeries and again I know that's not very much when compared to some others with Type III.

I know that I am very lucky. I got this random mutation and it resulted in OI. But it could have easily been a different mutation, or it could have resulted in Type II, and then I probably wouldn't be here.

Although the pain sometimes makes life unbearable, I have to keep going and try to stay as positive as possible.
