The dread of going up to bed.

Having had RLS for almost 55 years, severe for the past 15yrs. Fortunately I have a very clued up GP and although we keep searching for meds that give relief for more than a few weeks, we, between us, always find alternative meds to try. We have probably tried at least 8 or 10 different drugs, as I say, some have worked briefly, others not at all or had terrible side effects eg: Carbamazapine and Garbapentin also tried alernatives to medication, acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, massage, Magnesium spray. Copper bracelets etc etc. At present I'm in a really bad spell, not sleeping for any longer than1/2 hours per day. Stressful and depressing, but I do have a wonderful partner, caring, thoughtful, understanding, but most of all.....Loving. Without her and thoughts of my children I doubt I would be here today, it would be very easy to have " the long sleep". These terrible thoughts although fleeting, do cross your mind in those terrible nights/ early mornings with no sleep night after night after night. But I'm still here fighting this insidious condition that is basically unseen by those who have never had or got RLS. Describe the symptoms to these people and they look at you with that vacant stare, suggesting there's nothing really wrong with you. You quite often just want to punch them in the face!!!!
