The Day I Received A Handful of Diagnoses

In the space of 24 hours after the birth of my son, I received multiple diagnoses due to my inability to walk after birth. Three MRIs demonstrated that I had syringomyelia in my thoracic spine ruled as idiopathic in nature and a pituitary tumor. Neither of these related to my inability to walk mind you. That came from pulling on my legs for too long while pushing my first out and would take a good 6 months to learn to ambulate fully again with rehabilitation. Since then, I have gone on to work in clinical research, earn an MPH and I am now in advanced practice nursing school to become a nurse midwide and family nurse practitioner. Its not easy but I need to do it!
