Andi’s story

January 24, 2022.
I woke up that morning feeling fine. A couple hours later I had a horrible twisting feeling in my stomach, within about 5 minutes I felt like someone took a sledgehammer to my back. I couldn’t walk I had to crawl up my stairs. I thought I was going to throw up.. that didn’t happen. I laid on the bathroom floor in the fetal position trying to figure out what was wrong with me.
I called my husband who thank the lord was in our house. He found me and put me on the bed. I could t get comfortable. I felt like someone was giving me the biggest bear hug around my ribs. It hurt to breath.. it hurt to move. I had him help me off the bed as I said we need to go to a hospital.
He thought at first I was over reacting. I stood up and my left leg felt like it was asleep but just starting to wake up. Horrible pins and needles.
He helped me get dressed and by the time we were going to head downstairs I couldn’t feel my behind as well.
I said we are calling an ambulance. We did and by the time I got to the hospital I couldn’t feel my right side. It was the worst pain I’ve ever had.
I have back issues (bulging and herniated discs)
This was way worse.
After many tests and doctors not quite sure what I had I tried to get up to go to the bathroom. My legs were not working at all. I had been paralyzed from waist down. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Then transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for another 2.
The rehabilitation hospital taught me to walk again.
I still am pins and needles all the time. I still have the ms hug. Some days are better then others. Physical therapy is twice a week and I can definitely tell when I don’t go.
