my Trigeminal Neuralgia story

I first experienced severe facial pain in 2007 , after a visit to my doctor i was diagnosed with chronic sinusitis and went through 3 years of constant pain killers and antibiotics in 2010 i had my first sinus surgery which i was told would releave my pain , it didn't ,infact after surgery the pain was worse when i went back to the doctor he referred me to a neurologist who sent me for a ct and mri, the ct showed excessive damage to my sinus passages but the mri of my brain was normal. That neurologist told me i had a drug dependency and he would not prescribe anything , i was lucky to have a supportive gp who found me another neuro and this one diagnosed me with A typical trigeminal neuralgia in 2011i was put on tegratol and opiates and tried to get on with my life as best as i could, last year the tegratol stopped working and i was in agony all over again , i was taking to many pain killers stacking on the weight and suffering anxiety and depression after returning for weekly visits to my neuro we eventually found a combination of meds that made my life livable, i am currently on 600mg of tramadol a day and i take opiates as needed although i am in pain on a daily basis i am coping and trying to live my life the best i can.
