Aortic dissection

Hi my name is Steve , live in Wexford Ireland.
I at the age of 29 A young healthy male with no medical history or illness,
suffered an aortic dissection on 14th june 2019.
A day I am sure never to forget , I had just had my dinner after work
and my now wife was putting our young two year old to bed at about 7.15pm when i got up to put the kettle on as i normaly would after my dinner , when all of A sudden i got this sharp pressure pain in my chest .
I knew straight away something wasnt right but couldnt put my finger on it because if it was A heartattack im sure id be feeling pain elsewhere but my pain just stayed in my chest .
I immediatly got my wife to phone for an ambulance I was taking no chances .
thankfully I didnt , anyway the ambulance arrived done there tests , i had no symptoms of heart attack other than the chest pain but they where taking no chances and gave me the aspirin to THIN my blood .
after sometime in the hospital second opinion was sought and with that came a CT scan .
my wife and father where told what was happening ab aortic dissection 8cm .
I wasnt aware what was happening i was just told i was been transferred to a heart specialist hospital but i thaught that was just for more testing and it wasnt until i arrived when i was told what was happening and how serious it was , as like us all im sure they didnt hold much hope for me.
thanks to 9hrs in surgery i now have a graft and a mechanical valve .
life has been a big change for us as a family but i owe everything to the doctors and nurses that looked after me .
Below is an article I done with a national newspaper please feel free to read :)
