Here we go again

In the late 60s I was diagnosed with a cholesteatoma in ny left ear. It was removed along with the mastoid, and reconstruction was done. A few years later it returned was removed with no reconstruction leaving no hearing on the left side. In 1971 I began having trouble in the right ear, erosion but no cholesteatoma. Surgery was done to reconstruct middle ear and in 1974 a final tempanoplasty was seccessful.
For 40 some years I've managed. Aids were added in 2006..and I've been doing ok until June 16 this year. I woke up totally deaf. I was fine for me, 8 hours before, and suddenly totally deaf. Got into Audio. to confirm, saw doctor next day.
So suddenly I had developed a new Cholesteatoma. We are working to clear infection and move to surgery. Reconstruction will be attempted but because of old procedures ...its questionable as to the outcome.
Looking at possible cochlear implant. Very scary to go from the known to the unknown.
