The Quirky Cyster

Howdy!

My name is Lizzie and I was a cranky baby for the first year of my life! My mom diagnosed me when I was one, based on a commercial with Mary Tyler Moore which mentioned salty tasting skin being a symptom. She noticed that I had salty skin when she kissed me, and immediately took me in to be tested. It was confirmed positive. Soon afterwards, she became pregnant with my sister, Bailey, who was diagnosed in utero. We both have two copies of the Delta F508 Mutation!

The bond my family has is unbreakable. We have been through the best of times, and the worst. Growing up was definitely the worst of times because kids can be major bullies. They don't understand why you can't go camping or attend sleepovers, they just think you're weird. Luckily, it just brought my family closer!

Both my sister and I attended Texas A&M University (WHOOP!). I was the class of 2013 and Bailey ultimately is on a break. She recently had a double lung transplant (youcaring.com/baileygorman) and is in the recovery period. She WILL be back in school as soon as possible though, because she is a fighting Texas Aggie y'all!

Upon graduation, I received a job in technology at a bank. It keeps me busy, but I am still able to focus on my therapies to stay healthy! Well, as healthy as possible anyways. My lung functions have steadily declined over the years and now rest at about 30% FEV1. I don't require oxygen, but I do sleep with it at night to ensure my body doesn't over-stress the shallow breathing.

Well, that is a good summary, but I am always ready and willing to answer any questions. Please feel free to reach out to me!

XOXO
