Story about Encephalitis .

ANEC!

Aug 11, 2016

January 2016, my 7 year old daughter became seriously ill with Acute Necrotising Encephalitis, apparently a complication brought on from suffering the Influenza A virus. She was in a coma state and in intensive care at Addenbrookes hospital, Cambridge, where I was told she had a 30% chance survival and if she did survive, the effects from the brain injury would be devastating. But she amazed all hospital staff with her recovery and came home after 6 weeks and a lot of rehab. Now living with the residual neurological issues from an acquired brain injury. Acute Necrotising Encephalitis is so very rare, and if anyone else whose child has suffered this would like to contact me, I hope that they can and will. There is also a Facebook group set up for such families, called "Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis and Family Connection" for anyone else who's been through this, to join. :)
