I used to be a hard-working Paralegal when in June 2009, I had Herpes Simplex Encephalitis and 3 cm of my brain was removed. I was in a Coma for 19 days and when I woke up, I didn't recognize my Parents or Sisters nor did I remember that I had 4 German Shepherd mix Dogs at home that were, thankfully, taken care of by my elderly friend, Betty. I couldn't walk, talk or think and I kept having seizures. I wanted to Die but my Mom helped me. I started out by going to Touro Hospital to meet with a woman to help me relearn but I struggled. They referred me to LSU in downtown New Orleans and I am still going to school to relearn everything. I still had seizures and struggled to relearn and then I collapsed in my bathroom for 8 hours before Betty found me and called for an ambulance to take me to the Ochsner Baptist Hospital near my house. I finally got to meet with Dr.Terence D'Souza, in the Ochsner Baptist Neurology Department, who chose a Surgeon to fix my brain in April 2013. I was forever grateful because I can FINALLY think again and remember my early years. I no longer drive a car so I ride around Uptown New Orleans on my tricycle.
