A Long Twisted Path

I think of my health history as a long twisted path. My health issues began so long ago with chronic fissures starting in elementary school! I was diagnosed with endometriosis in junior high. I continued to struggle with fissures resulting in multiple fissurectimies...and a sphincterotomy.  Continued pain resulted in medical diagnoses of spastic colon and spastic sphincter. It escalated to Pelvic Floor Syndrome with further complication of rectal prolapse. Another surgery, with removal of portion of colon, Colostomy and removal of uterus....in hopes to lower pain level. Needless to say, overwhelming pain continued. After further research and discussion with specialist, I then had my lower sigmoid colon and anus removed. It then became clear that I still had some kind of issue with my upper colon, IBS. Deter with benign tumors on ovaries....another surgery....ovaries removed. Meeting with nutritionist for the IBS-D resulted in change of diet to Low FODMAPs! Helped quite a bit....found myself still fatigued...worn out easily...feeling like I had the flu....finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/Polyarthralgia/Chronic Pain Disorder.

My situation has been unique. My body is extremely overreactive. I have not been able to take "traditional" medications to help with symptoms of Fibro. I continue to struggle with overwhelming, debilitating symptoms...Fibro Fog, burning, headaches, stabbing, throbbing, spasms, numbness, tingling, insomnia, fatigue, overly sensitive to any form of touch, etc. The extreme Fibro triggers IBS-D and vice versa.

I am thankful for the strong support of my family....especially my husband and son....my Faith...and our friends!
