Meniere's and me.

It all began on Thanksgiving day of 1985. I was feeling strange before dinner and started spinning during dinner. Threw up every 20 minutes for close to 4 hours and went to the ER. They thought that I might have Meniere's. Went through lots of tests over 6 months and my Doctor did an endolymphatic sac surgery with shunt. I got 5 weeks of relief. He then wanted to do a nerve section but I said no and went to Mayo Clinic for treatment. Had a surgery there that worked well for dizziness but it also speeded up the hearing loss. Had it done again 3 years later. Found Valium to be best to control dizziness. In 1993 I was-diagn osed as bi-lateral. Did gent injections, steroids and tried every drug imaginable to treat it as auto immune. Then tried the Meniett device which did nothing for me. Had sac surgery on the other ear in 2002 and again got 5 weeks of relief. Had to quit working in 2002. By 2007 my hearing was about shot and I got a Cochlear Implant in the worst ear. In 2012 I got the second ear implanted. After 30 years I still get dizzy about 10 times a month. I love hearing again with the implants. I live my life to the fullest when I am not dizzy and do my downtime when I am. All in all I am very happy and love my life!!!
