One in a Million..

So I was getting some new glasses at the good ol' optical store when the optometrist says: hey, you got some lovely long lashes there, too bad they're scraping against your eye and you should get that taken care of.
I agreed, they were quite annoying and painful. Trichiasis they call it and it's not fun. Off I go to get them removed with electrolysis.. also quite painful. So.. after a few months of going back to clear out new eyelashes that were growing towards my eye.. the Eye Doc is taken aback by a little discovery of a Symblepharon in my right eye. A Symblepharon is when your eyelid starts to attach itself to your Cornea with scar tissue.

Turns out that this, plus some mouth lesions and nose bleeds that have been occurring for a long time has led us to my Current Diagnosis.
The Auto - Immune disease known as Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid.
With a side dish of Ocular Cicatricial Pemphigoid.
and recently noticing blistering on my scalp.

This particular cornucopia of symptoms puts me in the One in a Million Rare Disease club..

So ya.. been dealing with that the last few months
Taking Prednisone and hating all the side effects.
But other than that.. Im good.. :D

So if it were'nt for my lovely long lashes of doom and gloom.. I might be in worse shape.. thanks Genetics!! you are both a curse and a blessing.
