Irene

Irene was born perfect: she ate and slept well, was happy, laughed, spoke, walked. At about 18-20 months she started to spit out, repeat words, throw things away, scream. Doctors, neurologist, genetics, psyquiatrists, psycologists... I don't remember. We were told Irene would be on a wheel chair, would have a several mental retard, would never talk anymore or do anything by herself... and die at ten years old.

At six years old she was diagnosed as Atypical Rett Symdrome.

We found out a good neurologist and a good school. They help Irene and us to carry out with Rett. She walks, runs, swims, rides, eats by herself, helps to set the table, dances,... Has a good relationship with her family, and her environment.

She is a very happy 18 years old teenager.
