I am the youngest of three girls. My middle sister became very sick about 25 years ago. Although she was a nurse and her husband a doctor, they struggled to get a diagnosis. Trips to specialists and high priced hospitals turned up nothing. One day her husband was reading his medical journal and found a reference to Addison's disease. He looked at the darkened lines in my sisters palms and finally knew. About 5 years later I was being tested for hashimotos due to a family history and mentioned my sister had addisons so I was tested. First test was borderline so a second test was done which showed addisons. I don't know how long it would've have taken to diagnose me so I'm grateful it went the way it did.
