My son was born and he had failure to thrive for the first year of his life and was in the 1 percentile for weight. He constantly had diarriah, constipation, and acid reflux from the time he was born. We finally found a gastroenterologist when he was 3 who performed the tests and found that he has celiac disease. He is now 6 and been gluten free for 2 and a half years. We have seen a major change in his health for the better since he was diagnosed. It is still difficult for him since he doesn't completely understand why he can't eat what his classmates eat but knows that he will get sick if he eats anything that is not gluten free. Education on a daily basis is the best way to learn about this disease.
