13th birthday disaster

a confluence of factors seem to have caused this decline in my daughters health.

identified as celiac in Sept 2007. Diet altered. Apparently beneficial with removal of constant abdominal bloat. I do not feel her change of diet was a contributor to this event.

planned travel to Indonesia early 2008. Vaccinated Feb 2008 with Hep A+B combined vaccination. Apparent thyroid reaction within a day or two of injection. Decided to go to school camp as no other symptoms apparent however contracted virus at camp on 13th birthday. Others contracted the same virus but overcame it quickly.

Spent some weeks (without fever) but sleeping 20 hours a day and hanging on the couch for the other 4 hours. 

After some weeks of sleeping and serious feelings of 'isolation', she attended school for a day. Was not considered contagious. The local council and school authorities apparently thoughtlessly seemed to feel that my daughter who was wearing a pullover on a hot day, was white as a ghost with darkened eyesockets was a valid candidate for the first of three HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccinations on that fateful day that she wished to see her friends.

She came home feeling distinctly worse than when she went to school and spend the next five years of high school attending only core subject classes when she was able.

now attends University part time. Would not be able to hold down a job in her current state. Has trouble making it to all her classes.
