How did all start?
I'm not sure, no direct cause was ever explored.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes, it took about 2 weeks for the official diagnosis.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
When I contracted GBS there were no treatments, unfortunately.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
For years I tried hiding my GBS from people, but now that I am open about it, it makes my emotional PTSD much better.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Dealing with the chronic pain.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My family never treated me any differently.
What things have you stopped doing?
Competitive sports like running, football, baseball & soccer.
What do you think about the future?
I'm positive about the future.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The late 80s thru the 90s were my best because it's when I felt the best physically, and emotionally.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I would love to be able to run again.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Sometimes fun, sometimes painful & sometimes non-existent.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
I would recommend they remain positive, patient, and only exercise in moderation. I would also highly recommend listening to your doctors.
