Story about Guillain-Barre Syndrome .

Stacey's Story

Dec 29, 2015

The year was 1984, early June  I was working full time at our local WalMart Store.  I had a 2 year old little boy and was married at that time.  During this time 501 button up jeans were popular, I wore them and begin noticing that I could not button my jeans or blouses.  I also started stumbling at work a lot.  It was getting worse by the day. I saw my family doctor, in turn he made me an appointment with a Nurologist. The doctor did a spinal tap and nerve conduction test which confirmed GBS.  The Nuro. Put me on large doses of prednisone.  I became totally paralyzed except for my trunk,I relied on my mom for total care. My family moved in with my parents. I was wheel chair bound for two years.  My marriage ended.  I finally returned to work in May of 1986.  I still suffer from limb weakness, I now have RA and Fibromyalgia.
