Going on two years, lots of progress yet nowhere near healed

Hy HPPD started 20 months ago. I met up with some friends on a camping trip and was given one hit of acid that the supplier said he had stored in his freezer for five years. It didn't sound good but he claimed it didn't cause any damage to the chemical composition so I trusted him and ingested the acid. As the drug kicked in I started to feel weird rather than good and relaxed. As time went on I felt more and more strange, almost like my brain was overheating (which knowing what I know how, it probably was). Eventually I got separated from everyone and briefly had what some would refer to as a "bad trip." I had this intense feeling of fear rush over me and I felt like a child, vulnerable and unprotected. Eventually, after about 10 minutes, I was able to recover and ground myself back into reality but I fear the damage was already done.

A few days later I woke up and have been dealing with the same symptoms ever since. I have depersonalization-derealization, blunted depth perception (an almost 2-D field of vision), macropsia (objects that are closer appear larger than they really are), palinopsia (afterimages), streamers, visual snow, etc. Though my symptoms have vastly improved thanks to dieting, exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle while abstaining from drugs and alcohol, I still have the majority of my symptoms though they're much less pronounced. It's been 20 months since taking that single hit of acid and I imagine it will be at least another 20 before I'm either fully healed or healed enough to move on with my life.
