I was bitten in 1981. I was 27 yrs old. I had 2 bullseye rashes on both legs. Nobody knew what they were from. I was not ill. Also the soles of my feet hurt, debilitating headaches, and I lost the hearing in my Left ear. Mayo clinic had no clue what was wrong with me. They thought possibly meniers disease and I would lose my hearing in my other ear. I didn't
I had many sinus headaches, neck crunchyness, shoulder and neck and lower back muscles spasms, and TMJ. Panic Attacks were horrendous.I also had 2 more children.
I had multiple Lyme tests in the intervening years, all negative. I live in tick country. I remember counting 19 tick on me after a hike in the woods.
Skip ahead to 2009, I had done fairly well considering I had Lyme and Bartonella all those years, but an emotional trauma seemed to bring about a huge amount of symptoms. I heard a radio program in 2012 and the announcer spoke about a Doctor that had more knowledge about Lyme than most health professionals. I was concerned about a daughter who had Lyme and wanted to take an antibiotic that would allow her to keep nursing, for the 2 weeks she needed to be on the drug.
I contacted this Doc and she said she needed to stop nursing and take a more effective drug. I then started reading about the symptoms of Lyme and co-infections and discovered I had Chronic Lyme.
I started antibiotics and many suppliments and stayed on them for 2 years. I never noticed a change in my health. I stopped taking them. I went to a Naturapath for 6 months, no change. 3 years later and I am back on antibiotics and A Bart because I was having new symptoms. Rage, vision problems, costochondritis. debilitating headaches, the list goes on and on, but I think Lyme has affected my ability to remember.
I believe my last 2 children have Lyme as well. I believe they have had it since birth as they were born while I had untreated Lyme.
I feel hopeful. I am doing my best to do all the recomendations. Gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, I allow myself a treat now and again so I don't get so bumbed out that I stop. I also walk as much as I can tolerate, about an hour and a half a day.
