Tick bite in NE Scotland, Lyme arthritis in knees/lower legs, TWICE in two years.

1st tick bite while cutting long grass through our wood in NE Scotland. No bulls eye rash. Slight swellings and stiffness in both knees after walking 1-2 weeks later. 3 weeks after bite, a mysterious 24-hr fever. 2 days later one knee swelled up massively. The next day the other knee joined it. Immediately saw Doc (in Black Forest Germany while on holiday) who prescribed 3 weeks of 200mg per day doxycycline. Serum test was negative, but the doxy did the trick and knee swellings both came down and were normal within a week. Absolutely wiped out by the treatment for a couple of months, but no more symptoms for two years, then ...

A little over two years after the first bite, mysterious 24 hr flu-like fever. Hadn't noticed a tick, but had spent more time outdoors than ever before during the spring and summer, and been bitten every week by an assortment of insects - most of which I never saw. Had been out cutting the grass in the wood again a few days before the fever, so presumably picked up another tick(s) but didn't see it. 1-2 weeks later mild swellings and shooting pains in right knee when walking. A few days after that my right knee swelled up massively, left knee slightly. Didn't want to believe it could all be happening again, so applied heat treatment to the knees which helped initially, but swellings and stiffness kept coming, and random shooting pains in lower legs and ankles and knees so went to local GP, and he prescribed 2x100mg doxycycline for 3 weeks. Also had some odd symtoms in my eyes - the right eye was a bit dull and fuzzy, especially first thing in the morning, and the left eye had tiny floaters in bright light when driving. Both of these symptoms have gone after two weeks of doxy, and the shooting pains in lower legs have gone. Right knee is taking longer to return to normal.

Planning to take 3 month course of Green Dragon Botanicals "Tonic Protocol" based on Stephen Buhner's "Healing Lyme" book protocols.
