How did all start?
4yrs ago my 3rd daughter was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 29this started alarm bells ring and she was tested for lunch syndrome its came back as lynch PMS2 her father and myself where tested and I carry the gene and I have passed on to my 1st and 3rd daughter My 2nd daughter will not take the test and my 4th daughter does not have the gene.I have very little information on my mothers side of the family and my father family only 1 case of lung cancer, heavy smoker.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
it took about 4weeks
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I have a bowel check every year a gut check every 2 years and I had the cervix fallopian tubes ovaries and uterus removed to prevent cancer starting
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
information a great GP and the genetic department
What have been your biggest difficulties?
explaining that Lynch affects us all its not a old man complaint people in there 20's die from lynch
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
no change we talk about Lynch all the time who's turn is it for a check up.
What things have you stopped doing?
Worrying about getting cancer
What do you think about the future?
wish they could come up with a method of removing this gene.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
My 30's I had my 4 daughters then
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
no change
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
enjoy each day and love people animals and the natural world
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
regular check-ups are a must and Knowledge is power fight for right to have check ups and do not worry about cancer I am 68 and no sign of cancer
