Nathan's interview
How did all start?
I started to have chronic wrist pain when I was 14 and I went to the doctors but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I have been officially diagnosed with bilateral madelung’s deformity after almost 3 years
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I’ve had physical therapy, steroids, and surgery. None have been successful yet
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Knowing that I’m not alone in my battle and that there are others fighting alongside me
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Finding a doctor that knows about my condition
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My relationships haven’t really changed
What things have you stopped doing?
Thankfully it hasn’t restricted me from doing things that I like
What do you think about the future?
Hopefully we find a cure for madelung’s
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
I’m not really sure.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Well I can already do the things I enjoy for the most part
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Like a roller coaster.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
It helps to be able to talk to people who have the same condition cause they know what your dealing with
