Story about Meniere Syndrome .

My journey with Menieres

Dec 16, 2015

By: Pam

I experienced my first vertigo attack back in 2010 and had no idea what was happening.  I was sweating, heart racing, and so nauseous.  My first symptom was ringing in the ears and the next symptom was hearing loss in my left ear.  Thank goodness I only have symptoms in 1 ear and it's not bilateral.  Saw an ent in Indianapolis and he first wanted to do the decompression sac sugery.  After researching it online, it seemed like a lot of patients said it didn't help them and was a waste.  Not really wanting to have surgery I am just trying to live with this terrible disease the best I can.  I am usually dizzy on a daily basis but some days are better than others. I am currently not taking a water pill.  I did for a few months and didn't seem to help at all.  I am just taking tons of vitamins and trying to drink plent of water and watch the salt and caffeine intake.  I take over the counter Meclizine and my doctor has prescribed me a low dose of Valium to take to help with the vertigo.  just trying to live my life and control the anxiety attacks which seem to make the vertigo much much worse.
