My life with Menieres

I was diagnosed by my ENT Specialist at age 60.   I had suspected Menieres leading up to this, not knowing anything about the disease, I had done some research.    For the next year it was a roller coaster ride for me sorting out medications to control the severe attacks that had me flat on my back for 4 hours.    I had to give up work for a time after suffering an attack on the job and feeling insecure about driving.   Serc helped control the attacks and enabled me to get on with life with more confidence.   I even went ahead and bought a Country Hotel with my husband, lived and worked there for 2 years, during this time managing the odd attacks that occured.

Now 10 years later, I am much better.  As the disease has progressed I have learned so much about juggling diet and the foods I eat.   I have been on a strict low salt diet which has helped markedly.   

I am now 70 years old, still taking 2 Serc a day and feeling pretty good.   At most I only experience 1-2 bad attacks a year, with less vomiting, I just sleep them off.

I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones, but believe that you just have to keep trying to get on with life and not let the disease limit what you do.   We still travel a lot, and while air travel and windy steep roads can be challenging, I manage to cope, I will continue to do this as long as I can.
