I became symptomatic after working 10 months in the lab of a hospital (Phoenix). One by one, I got ill w/ the tarring of the roof of the building, removing mold and asbetos, putting in drywall, painting the new drywall, putting in new vinyl flooring - almost ongoing renovations to take 10 years to completion. At 64 yo the lengthy replumbing (4 mos +) outside my office door made me so sick that I was concerned for my health, especially since my lungs felt irritated. I relocated to Tucson because the air is cleaner. I no longer cough when I leave the house.
I have been searching for a late 70s mobile home (I had 2, know what's in them) to buy or town home built in the 70s and 80s, no luck as they all are newly painted, new laminate or tile flooring (need carpet for my joints), cleaned, and then they close the house up tight, which retains the VOC odors.
