i have type 1 diabetes since february 1993
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
input from my occupational therapist and her assistant. Also my brothers daughter Georgia.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Not being able to work
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Closer relationship with my parents and my brother and his partner Niamh. I am godfather to their 3 month old son CJ ( Christopher James) whom I adore.
What things have you stopped doing?
nothing
What do you think about the future?
I remain confident for the future. I am driving again and recently moved into a newly built wheelchair accessible home.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
They have all been good.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Continue my work as a security guard

Challenging
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
reach out to your friends and family , don``t be afraid to ask for help. Think of your mental health , depression can affect you.
