Story about Poland Syndrome .

My Baby girl born with Poland's Syndrome

Year Condition Began: 2018

My beautiful daughter Pearl, born November 2018 was born with (mild) Poland Syndrome. She is missing her Right Pectoral muscle & her 3rd & 4th rib. She may need a breast reconstruction when she is older, if that is what she decides she would like. I had never heard of the disease & neither had the hospital! So when she was 7 days old I had to take her to a specialist in London who had heard of the condition but never actually seen it in an infant. As the milder form Poland's Syndrome isn't always obvious until they grow. So the doctors & nurses were all very excited, I believe the exact phrase used by one doctor was "its more interesting than alarming". Believe me after 3 (missed) miscarriages, it was very alarming! However she's an amazing, beautiful strong girl and a little warrior. Because despite the odds she was getting to this world with missing parts or not ❤
I do worry about how it will affect her confidence & self esteem growing up, particularly as it will affect her breast development. She's only a baby at the mo but if anyone has any insight or experience with their experiences with Poland's Syndrome wether u opted for surgery or not. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanku
