I was in school and suddenly start loosing the ability to see on the sides - peripheral vision.
PE was a nightmare. I was often hit with objects like ball, net, poles etc. Running on track was also impaired.
When I finally ended on a wall hitting my nose and bled for an hour - I went to my GP and that's how it started :)
Then I was told nothing can be done, blah blah, genetics etc etc.
Diet rich in Vit. A and awaiting a miracle therapy (gene, implants etc.)
I graduated as PT and acupuncturist. I started some research and discovered that one can increase blood flow around eyes by using certaing points and stimulating them with needles. Also electrotherapy may help.
I was so fortunate to meet Lukas my therapist. He is also a PT but specialising in rare conditions and treats them with physical therapy accoring to the latest research. He was taking part in one conducted in Denmark when they used ionotherapy, transcorneal stimulation and dry needling to treat retinal diseases.
I am Lukas's patient since 2011. My peripheral vision improved and I can see my progression has stopped. I am still seeing Lukas and my ophthalmologist of course.
At the end I hope they will figure out how to permanently cure RP.
